I would like to discuss the future of magazines on-line as it applies to local publications. The failure to adapt to an on-line model or successfully integrate their physical content or reach out to a younger demographic will be the death of them. It's steam vs. sail, really. Sure sailboats are still around but their little more than a hobby and no longer are the deliverers of goods. At Gutter, we feel that on-demand publishing, better use of available technology and lower ad costs (because you are no longer dealing with finite space) and more diverse staff are the keys to a successful on-line publication.
