Mnikr: A Reputation Stock Market
Mnikr is a system for evaluating reputation through individuals buying and selling shares of other people's identities. These shares can then pay dividends of goodwill, and allow the person's reputation to propagate throughout his/her friends and admirers. You can buy and sell shares of any Identity, regardless of whether they use Mnikr. Rather than creating Yet Another Site With a Named Identity Space, Mnikr utilizes the Open Social Web so that any identity can be referenced by any account linked by it on any service, such as Facebook, YouTube, or Twitter.
About Brendan O'Connor:
Brendan O'Connor just finished his Master's Degree in Engineering in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins in May; Mnikr was his thesis topic. He now works as a DARPA contractor by day, and at night, cultivates his superhero identity working on open source software and projects furthering the goals of the Open Social Web. His cat, Lysistrata, is content with these pursuits as long as she can interrupt him periodically to a) make sure his wrists don't get worn out, and b) be petted.
