Business IS Theater!
Author = Business Leader
Script = Processes
Director = Manager
Actor = Employee
Theater = Work
Performance = Offering
Audience = Customers
At the core of leadership is the story of why what you want matters. A compelling story delivered with integrity and conviction has the power to transform both the performer and the audience.
If stories connect author, actor, and audience they can also connect leaders with staff, customers, and stakeholders.
If the organization with the best story wins then do what theater people do: - keep your story relevant and compelling, don't hide the conflict, that's where the drama is - signify the meaning behind the product or service offered with symbols, metaphor, and archetype
If business IS theater and we are evaluated or compensated based on our "performance" then we should learn to:
- Create like a playwright
- Lead like a director
- Perform like an actor
