Ignite Baltimore #5

Stephanie Yanovitz

Why isn't anybody listening to me?

I feel like nobody listens to me. I often wonder, is it the way I say it. I'm pretty sure I listen to people when they talk. Am I really smarter than everyone else? Why do I feel like I have to hold someone's hand through a process, spoon-feed, or take baby steps? Can't everyone just keep up? Did I learn to play chess to early? Am I always three or four moves ahead of everyone? Do I back down too quickly? Should I speak up? Look, I know I'm confident but not over confident. I know I have the experience, practice, and have learned from my mistakes. I know I barely dress the part but I don't try to not dress the part either. Wait, I'm doing it again, I'm being ambiguous, and nobody understands me. Look, just because I get to the point, frankly or sometimes brass doesn't mean I'm a b*^ch. I like to think of myself as "ambitchous" and other self-created rationale. Come hear me explain why self-starters, confident, intelligent people take so long to realize that people who don't need anything or don't want anything get just that ---they don't get anything.
