Ignite Baltimore #5

Tim Kulp

Social Media: a hacker's perspective

If you are young, hip or a savvy business person you MUST be connected in Facebook or LinkedIn and constantly update your connections via Twitter. We are a connected culture that keeps wanting to connect more, tell everyone everything and provide the world with our original content. Global communication is good...right?

My presentation is about how Social Media is being used by the bad guys/gals to cultivate a new attack vector. I'll discuss some attacks to watch out for and who is most vulnerable. Finally we will look at what if anything you can do to stop the bad guys/gals from ruining your social media fun.

About Tim Kulp:

The future of IT and consumer technology is bright and thrilling. Unfortunately an army of hackers, crackers and cyber-villains are eager to steal that bold future from us. I want to ensure a brighter tomorrow by promoting secure coding standards and educating the users to the threats.

For the past 9 years I have been a developer around Baltimore. When not writing code, I study secure coding practices and methodologies but more interesting I like to paint, write and practice martial arts.
